2024 Zoom Meeting February 24

Instagram is a popular photo and video-based social media
site heavily used by Millennials and Gen X. In response to
the questions Emily received when she made her presentation
at the Fall 2023 meeting (see pages 7-8), she has
created this special event.
Join us on Zoom to learn more about how to effectively use
Instagram to engage with younger audiences. We will learn
about different kinds of content, review popular and
successful library accounts, and you’ll leave with some
ideas for posts you can create.
There is no charge to attend this event, but you must
register by February 20 to receive the Zoom link. If you
received Off the Shelf via e-mail, the e-mail included a link
to an electronic registration form. If you received a paper
copy in the mail or if the link in the e-mail doesn’t work for
you, you can register by sending an e-mail to Laura Dirks
at otseditor@gmail.com.
When the Zoom link is sent to
you, you will receive instructions on how you can set up an
Instagram account in advance of the event.

2023 Meeting Update
Glen Cary Lutheran Church
15531 Central Ave NE, Ham Lake, 55304
October 21, 2023 8:30-12:15

Our keynote speakers are Patty Wetterling and Joy Baker, co-authors of DEAR JACOB; A Mother’s Journey of Hope.
As many of us know, on October 22, 1989, in the smalltown of St. Joseph, MN, eleven-year-old Jacob Wetterling was kidnapped at gunpoint. What lies between is the riveting story of the search for Jacob, told by his mother, Patty. With down-to-earth candor, she details the investigation as it unfolds, discusses her family’s struggles, and shows how she maintained her energy and optimism.

For her own survival, Patty chose to focus on hope. She became a speaker, trainer, and national advocate for missing children. In 1994, Congress passed the Jacob Wetterling Act, establishing a national sex offender registry. n 2013, the Wetterling’s were joined on their quest by Joy Baker, a writer, blogger, and investigative journalist who uncovered key evidence in Jacob’s case. Joy’s work on Jacob’s case has been featured in print and broadcast media as well as on true crime podcasts.

This book will be available for sale at the meeting for $29.95 or can be preordered at many bookstores.

The registration form to attend this meeting is located under Forms in this newsletter.
